Nepal Study Treks and Expeditions was started in the early nineties to give visitors an exposure to Nepal’s rich culture as well as environmental and development issues. We have tried to balance tours to temples and treks into the Himalayas with opportunities to meet ordinary Nepalese in rural areas and better understand their lives. Our hope is that our guests return home with a greater appreciation of Nepal .as a result of their visit and study tour to Nepal.
5% of our income is donated to schools in Kaski District to support girls studies. I come from a village in the Annapurna Area and realize how difficult it is for kids from low income families to complete school. Many villages have primary schools but middle and high schools are few, and many hours walk from home. Kids completing primary grades from wealthier families generally go to the nearest city, like Pokhara, and rent a room or stay with relatives and continue their education, but other kids especially girls often drop out of school after primary grades if a middle or high school is not located nearby. Our contributions this year will go to support teacher salaries (with focus on women) to assist the Tikhedhunga Middle School upgrade to high school level so kids living in nearby villages (11 villages) can complete their studies close to home.
