Nepal Fall Festival Tour

Kathmandu – Pokhara – Tiger Mountain Resort – Bandipur - Chitwan – Kathmandu

Mid-October, 2008

Day 1

Arrive Kathmandu – check into Hotel Malla in Thamel - afternoon walking tour of Durbar Square,  Asan Bazaar and old Kathmandu City.

Day 2

Full day sightseeing of main Buddhist site of Boudhanath, and Hindu temple of Pashupati, and restored City of Bhaktapur.

Day 3

Morning flight to Pokhara – stay at Fishtail Lodge - Afternoon free for sightseeing, boating on Fewa Lake, shopping at the lakeside bazaar.

Day 4

Early morning drive (about one hour) to Naudanda for sunrise viewing and return to Fishtail for breakfast – evening culture dance with dinner.

Day 5

Following breakfast, transfer to Tiger Mountain Lodge – (one hour drive) located on the eastern ridge overlooking Pokhara Valley with excellent views of the Annapurna Range.

Day 6

Tiger Mountain Lodge (optional day walks with guide to nearby villages and viewing sites available on request).

Day 7

Travel by micro bus to Bandipur (about 3 hours by road) and stay at Bandipur Mountain Resort – good Himalaya viewing from a small village site with citrus groves and farming operations surrounding the ridge where the resort is located.

Day 8

Bandipur Mountain Resort – optional day walks with guide to  nearby villages.

Day 9

Following breakfast travel by micro-bus (about 3 hours) to Chitwan National Park - stay at Chitwan Jungle Lodge - jungle sightseeing on elephant back and canoe, animal and bird watching with certified naturalist guide.

Day 10

Continue jungle sightseeing activities – evening program of local community Tharu culture-dances.

Day 11

Fly to Kathmandu from Bharatpur – Hotel Malla. Afternoon free.

Day 12

Early morning one-hour optional Everest Mountain Flight; Midday option includes visit to Patan Museum with lunch and late afternoon walk around Swayambhunath temple.

Day 13

Final day in Kathmandu - evening’s dinner with culture dance at prominent Nepali restaurant.

Included in the tour:

  • Domestic airfare with airport taxes, Kathmandu-Pokhara,  and Chitwan -Kathmandu
  • All ground transportation, airport pickup/drop off, sightseeing
  • All hotels with breakfast
  • Tiger Mountain Resort includes all meals.

  • Chitwan National Park package includes all meals - park fee, jungle tours with natuaralist, elephant ride, canoe on the river to see water fowl and animals, bird watching, jungle walks, local Tharu cultural dances
  • Entry fees to Boudhanath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupati, Swayambhunath, Bhaktapur and Patan’s Durbar Square and Museum
  • City Guide for city and temple tours
  • Final evening’s dinner with culture dance at prominent Nepali restaurant in Kathmandu

Nepal Visa:

-Multiple entry 15 days US$ 25 or equivalent convertible currency

-Multiple entry 30 days US$ 40 or equivalent convertible currency

-Multiple entry 90 days US$ 100 or equivalent convertible currency

Tourist Visa Extension:
Visa extension fee for 15 days or less is US $ 30 or equivalent convertible currency and visa extension fee for more than 15 days is US$ 2 per day
Tourist visa can be extended for a maximum period of 150 days in a single visa year (January – December).

 

-International Airport Departure Tax (approximately $20)

-Lunch/dinner where not indicated

-Tips are not included except for transfer of luggage. Tipping of porters and guides on walks, resort and park guides, and long-distance drivers, is usually expected and best managed as a group

Altitudes for this tour will not exceed 4000 feet (Kathmandu). Pokhara is 2460 feet and Chitwan is less than 600 feet.

For up to date public health information, go to www.cdc.gov and click on “traveler’s health” and select the county (Nepal). During fall and early spring, mosquitoes are not common at low altitudes even in Pokhara or Chitwan because of cool nights, but it’s best to be prepared and everyone should travel with repellent (Deet or Picaridin, etc.). The lodge in Chitwan will offer mosquito nets.
